It was on April 26, 1988, when we first got to meet the Lubbock family. Just the Ten of Us grabbed a fair share of people’s attention. A spin-off of Growing Pains, it revolved around Coach Graham Lubbock, his pregnant wife, and their eight children. Instantly, the whole of America was hooked. The show ran for three seasons and garnered massive appreciation from the audience.

In the family, there was one Cindy Lubbock, played by a young and gorgeous Jamie Luner. She got so much recognition from her role that people still call and refer to her as Cindy. In a career that stretched beyond three decades, Jamie has played some memorable roles on screen. With each part, Jamie tried to change how acting was perceived in general. She experimented with different roles to create a niche for herself.

But Cindy remains to be one role that started it all.

How it all started?

When you look at Jamie’s story, you cannot help but agree that she and the camera were meant for each other. Jamie’s mother, Susan Luner, had signed her up with a talent agency when she was a toddler. And her first break came quickly when she starred opposite Suzanne Somers in a tissue commercial. Jamie Luner was only four when she got the part where the commercial requires her to sneeze on cue.

When she was 15 years old, Jamie won a local Shakespeare competition. It was the first time when she realized her affinity with the stage. In an interview when she was asked about the competition, Jamie said, “Performing gave me such a high. My body was tingling.”

Meanwhile, Growing Pains had started airing on ABC in 1985. Jamie got the chance to do a recurring role on the show, and at the same time, she moved to New York with her mother. There, Jamie joined the Professional Children’s School. Growing Pains’ producers liked Jamie Luner and wanted her to star in their series’ spin-off show. And thus, Jamie Luner landed the role of Cindy Lubbock on Just the Ten of Us.

Jamie Luner scales new heights.

For her role as Cindy, Jamie was nominated in 1989 for the “Best Young Actor/Actress Ensemble in a Television Comedy, Drama Series or Special” category. However, after a successful run of three seasons, the producer finally pulled the plug on the show in 1991. Jamie decided it was time to take a break from acting, and she joined a culinary school. She was also a chef at a French restaurant in Los Angeles, called Drai’s.

In 1993, Jamie was back on-screen in “Moment of Truth: Why My Daughter.” She was also seen in “Married with Children” and “Diagnosis Murder.” But her big break after the return came in 1996 when she got the role of “Payton Richards” on Savannah.

Jamie has done some remarkable roles like Lexi Sterling in Melrose Place and Rachel Burke in Profiler. She is currently 48, and there are no signs of stopping. Jamie is continually pushing her boundaries and experimenting with challenging roles. We can only hope that she keeps dazzling us.
