Jamie Luner: A Star Who Donned Many Hats

It was on April 26, 1988, when the first episode of “Just the Ten of Us” aired on ABC. And the American people still remember Jamie Luner as Cindy Lubbock on the show.

But Cindy is not the only character that her fans remember adore her for. During her elaborate acting career filled with stardom, Jamie has done justice to several roles. These roles have all made a special place in her fan’s hearts.

Jamie’s rise to fame

Jamie has been comfortable in front of the camera since her childhood. Her mother,

Susan Luner signed her up with a talent agency, and she got her first break in a tissue commercial at the age of four.

At the age of 15, teenage Jamie won a local Shakespeare competition. This win made her realize that she is meant to be in front of the camera. As Jamie said, “Performing gave me such a high. My body was tingling.”

In 1985, Jamie guest-starred in many episodes on “Growing Pains.” Later, her mother took Jamie to New York, where she went to Professional Children’s School. Her performance in “Growing Pains” solidified her place as Cindy Lubbock in its spin-off show, “Just the Ten of Us”.

Jamie’s portrayal as Cindy even earned her a nomination in the “Best Young Actor/Actress Ensemble in a Television Comedy, Drama Series or Special” in 1989. After the sitcom was canceled in 1991, Jamie took a break from acting and attended culinary school. She was even a chef at French restaurant Drai’s in LA.

But she couldn’t stay away from the camera, and gorgeous Jamie was back on TV in “Moment of Truth: Why My Daughter” in 1993. Meanwhile, she was also seen playing small parts in “Married with Children” and “Diagnosis Murder”. But in 1996, Jamie got a significant break as a Southern femme fatale “Peyton Richards”. It was a role that sent tingling feeling down her male fans.

Some exceptional roles

One of her roles that left its mark was her portrayal of “Lexi” in “Melrose Place” which ran from 1992 to 1999. It didn’t take her long, and she was soon cast as “Rachel Burke” in NBC’s Profiler.

The early 2000s saw Jamie starring as the lead in several shows and movies like “Blind Justice” (2005), “Stranger in my Bed” (2005), “The Suspect” (2006), “The Perfect Marriage” (2006): The list is endless.

Jamie Luner is 48 and still making her fans weak at their knees. She is actively taking roles that are different from mainstream drama. Many of her iconic characters have left a significant mark on the American audience.
